North Pier History & Heritage Tours
Learn
about the history of Blackpool’s very first attraction; from
it’s Victorian beginnings as a ‘promenade pier’ to becoming one
of the resort’s most important heritage buildings.
Discover why the North Pier had a jetty added to it and what
sailed (or flew!) from it. Hear of the international stars who
graced the stage in its original Pavilion to the modern-day
Theatre.
The tour lasts approximately two hours and ends with tea or
coffee in the Joe Longthorne Museum Tea Rooms. Your host,
Stephen Mercer, a trained Blackpool Heritage Champion, has a lot
of in-depth knowledge of the North Pier and he may just pass on
a tale or two of the stars of the shows from his days as theatre
manager there!
